OCEANSCAN is a portuguese SME with more than 13 years of activity and certified according to NP EN ISO 9001:2015. Founded as a spin-off from the Underwater Systems and Technology Laboratory (LSTS) at the University of Porto, Portugal. OMST mission comprehends the design, development and commercialization of innovative systems for oceanographic surveys, environmental monitoring and underwater inspection applications. Over its lifetime OMST has developed and marketed a number of innovative technologies for ocean exploration and communications at sea: The Light Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (LAUV®) is OMST core product and was specifically designed to be an affordable, lightweight vehicle that can be easily launched, operated and recovered with a minimal operational setup.

OceanScan will contribute to NESTOR by undertaking autonomous underwater surveys using their LAUV unmanned submarines. These surveys will be used to detect and localize potential targets of interest in the sea bottom, such as packages and other trafficking materials.
