Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas
The Centre for Research and Technology-Hellas (CERTH), founded in 2000, is the only research centre in Northern Greece and one of the largest in the country. CERTH has important scientific and technological achievements in many areas including: Energy, Environment, Industry, Mechatronics, Information & Communication, Health, Agro-biotechnology, Smart farming, Safety & Security, as well as several cross-disciplinary scientific areas. Currently, CERTH includes the following five institutes: (a) Chemical Process & Energy Resources Institute (CPERI), (b) Information Technologies Institute (ITI), (c) Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT), (d) Institute of Applied Biosciences (INAB), (e) Bio-economy and Agro-technology Institute (IBO). CERTH participates with the ITI which was founded in 1998 as a non-profit organization with its head office in Thessaloniki, Greece. Some of the ITI’s research domain involve semantic multimedia analysis, Image and Signal Processing, Cognitive Vision, Machine Learning, Human Computer Interaction, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Database and Information Systems and social media analysis as well as Security and Surveillance applications.
Role within the project
ITI-CERTH is involved with two (2) complementary research groups: (i) Multimodal Data Fusion and Analytics Group (M4D) group from Multimedia Knowledge and Social Media Analytics Laboratory (MKLAB) and (ii) ConvCAO. M4D group is responsible for the supervision of the scientific and technical outcomes of NESTOR, as well as the development of the object recognition models based on optronic data and the development of fusion schemes. ConvCAO is responsible for the development of UxV swarm commanding tolls and machine collaboration methodologies.
